Comment Poll Just this once then you can go back to lurking!

Comment Poll Just this once then you can go back to lurking!

I was looking back at the data for old posts, and something interesting stood out to me.

Back in the heyday of blogger (2005-2009 or so), the ratio of visitors to comments on a post was approximately 50:1. As in fifty people would visit before one would leave a comment.
It started dwindling in 2010 until now, and now the ratio averages around 1000:1. A thousand unique visitors before one person leaves a comment. My conversations with friends who run blogs seem consistent with this trend.

So Im curious to know what happened? Not that comments are the reason you run a blog by any means, and while I liked the feeling of a big blogging community interacting in the past, Im asking mostly because Im curious about the psychology of someone who decides to comment vs. someone who doesnt.
So if you dont mind, please take a moment to answer in the comments (just this once :) ). Ill make it multiple choice, so you dont have to elaborate if you dont want.

Pick one of the following reasons why you usually dont comment on blogs you visit/frequent:

A. TL:DR. I skim through a giant blog and tumblr feed these days, and with my limited time, comments are definitely out of the question.

B. Blogs are dying. I spend my commenting time on other sites like Facebook, twitter, tumblr, etc.

C. No faith in responses---Ive been ignored too many times, so I no longer like putting a comment out there when there is no promise of a response.

D. Followed a link only, not going to waste any more time here. (I probably wont get many people giving this answer, but Im guessing this is one of the big reasons.)

E. No point. Im usually just telling people "Good job, your art is cool!" and that eventually seemed tiring and useless.

F. Typing is hard. For some people, it is.

G. Some other reason. Its okay to simply answer "G" if thats all the time you have, but if you know the reason specifically, Id be very interested to hear it.

Depending on how people answer, I might do a follow-up post assessing preferred ways to communicate with other artists, whether more meaningful communication is necessary, and whether you feel like were losing something by checking blogs without interacting.

Thanks for your time!

Cheap groceries are making you FAT study claims

Cheap groceries are making you FAT study claims

Government funds for processed foods and soft drinks are increasing risk of heart disease Government-subsidized groceries are making Americans fat, a new study claims. Billions of dollars are poured into the farming industry each year to lower the cost of basic foods like corn, soybeans, wheat, rice, sorghum, dairy and livestock. But these products are often made into foods that increase obesity and risk of heart disease such as high-fat processed foods, high-calorie juices, and soft drinks with high-fructose corn syrup. The more people eat of foods made with subsidized commodities, the more likely they are to be obese, have abnormal cholesterol and high blood sugar, according to a report in JAMA Internal Medicine. So its a Catch-22 for poorer people... the foods they can afford are not very healthy, and the healthier foods are not subsidized. And if health bills mount up for them, it is government who often foots the health bill too.... See http://ift.tt/29uOhX0

Computer Repair What You Need to Know

Computer Repair What You Need to Know

Has your computer been testing your patience for a long time? Picture this: youre in the middle of emailing a crucial report to your boss when suddenly, your computer freezes and doesnt respond to your desperate mouse clicks. Or it restarts every now and then, and you wonder why it happens all the time. Dont lose your cool-having your computer repaired can still revive the operation of your machine. If your computer is acting up, dont ignore the symptoms, either. Computer repair should be done as early as possible to prevent further troubles.

Its interesting to note that many people own computers but only a few of them know how to fix computer problems. Usually, computer owners seek the help of computer technicians to correct or solve the problem. Thats why computers repair shops proliferate everyday and make lots of money from their customers.

If youre looking for a computer technician, you can find many business cards and fliers that advertise pc repair services. Itd be better if you take your computer to a small repair shop in your locality because its services are less expensive than that of large PC repair shops.

Its not enough to rely solely on the expertise of the person you hired to repair your computer. Try to keep yourself informed about computers so that you wont be deceived by unscrupulous technicians. Also, make sure that the technician you hire is competent and skilled enough. A good repair person can accurately diagnose the problem of your computer and provide a reasonable estimate of cost and repair time.

Always make sure the amount that repair shops charge you is fair. If you think the cost of repairing your pc is expensive, you can request for a detailed description of the tasks that were done and the price of each. If youre still not convinced, then you can try negotiating the price. Asking the repair shop to lower their charge can pay off in some instances.

Besides repair shops, you can also try to avail of a remote pc repair service. This service works by using remote screen sharing software to connect your computer to the repair company. The company then solves your computer problems from its office.
