I was looking back at the data for old posts, and something interesting stood out to me.

Back in the heyday of blogger (2005-2009 or so), the ratio of visitors to comments on a post was approximately 50:1. As in fifty people would visit before one would leave a comment.
It started dwindling in 2010 until now, and now the ratio averages around 1000:1. A thousand unique visitors before one person leaves a comment. My conversations with friends who run blogs seem consistent with this trend.

So Im curious to know what happened? Not that comments are the reason you run a blog by any means, and while I liked the feeling of a big blogging community interacting in the past, Im asking mostly because Im curious about the psychology of someone who decides to comment vs. someone who doesnt.
So if you dont mind, please take a moment to answer in the comments (just this once :) ). Ill make it multiple choice, so you dont have to elaborate if you dont want.

Pick one of the following reasons why you usually dont comment on blogs you visit/frequent:

A. TL:DR. I skim through a giant blog and tumblr feed these days, and with my limited time, comments are definitely out of the question.

B. Blogs are dying. I spend my commenting time on other sites like Facebook, twitter, tumblr, etc.

C. No faith in responses---Ive been ignored too many times, so I no longer like putting a comment out there when there is no promise of a response.

D. Followed a link only, not going to waste any more time here. (I probably wont get many people giving this answer, but Im guessing this is one of the big reasons.)

E. No point. Im usually just telling people "Good job, your art is cool!" and that eventually seemed tiring and useless.

F. Typing is hard. For some people, it is.

G. Some other reason. Its okay to simply answer "G" if thats all the time you have, but if you know the reason specifically, Id be very interested to hear it.

Depending on how people answer, I might do a follow-up post assessing preferred ways to communicate with other artists, whether more meaningful communication is necessary, and whether you feel like were losing something by checking blogs without interacting.

Advancements in processors, other hardware, and operating systems (OSs) now make multitasking easier than ever. A typical computer session may include browsing the Web while downloading music, or editing a photo while virus scan runs in the background. For example, Intels latest mobile processors allow laptop users to simultaneously run multiple, resource-intensive programs while consuming very little power.

Because of the increase in energy efficiency and performance, laptops in general have become smaller, thinner, and lighter. Most new models come equipped with dual monitor support and accelerated video technology, making connecting an additional monitor a simple operation.

Why use a second monitor?

Dual monitor configurations make complex projects easier to work on. Graphic designers, for example, often have several editing programs running at the same time. Adding an additional monitor doubles visual "real estate," giving users more room to work and play. Your desktop view can either be replicated on the second screen or stretched across it to form a larger work area.

Smaller laptop screens are great for traveling, but can be hard on your eyes for extended use. Connecting a full-size monitor to your laptop computer allows you to choose screen resolutions and refresh rates that cause less eye strain.

Whether you plan to make a presentation, are working on a massive project or your laptop screen suddenly stops working, learning how to connect a monitor to your laptop can save you a lot of time and frustration.

Connect a monitor to your laptop

Laptops usually have one or more digital visual interface (DVI), video graphics array (VGA), or separate video (S-Video) ports. DVI ports are used to connect some flat panel LCD displays, while VGA ports can connect either LCD or older style CRT monitors. In addition to monitors, S-Video ports can also be used to connect video cameras, DVD players, and TVs.

If you have an older laptop that does not have a monitor port, you can purchase a USB 2.0-to-SVGA video adapter. The adapter plugs into one of your USB 2.0 ports. With it, one or more LCD or CRT monitors can be connected to your computer. They are reasonably priced and can be found online or through your local computer dealer.

Lets get started.

Shut down your laptop and unplug it. Set the monitor next to the laptop on a secure surface.
Determine which type of connector your monitor has and plug it into the corresponding port on the back or side of your laptop. DVI ports are usually white, and most VGA ports are blue (refer to your laptop owners manual if necessary). If your monitor uses a different connector than what is available on your laptop, you can get an adapter to make them work. Tighten the connector screws, and then turn on the monitor.
Plug your laptop in and turn it on. If the monitor does not show your OS loading, go to the next step.
On your laptop keyboard, locate the FN key and the display function key (typically F5, F7 or F8), which usually has a picture of a monitor or the words CRT/LCD on it. To activate the monitor display, hold down the FN key, then press the display function key. It may take a few seconds for the monitor to respond. Refer to your laptop owners manual if you have trouble locating or using the display function key.

Configure the screens

Most laptops mirror your desktop on the second monitor by default. By changing a few settings, you can extend your desktop across both monitors, allowing you to drag open programs from one screen to the other.

In Windows Vista*:

Right-click on your desktop and select "Personalize" then "Display Settings."
Arrange the two virtual monitor displays by dragging the boxes to correspond to the location of your actual monitors. For example, if your laptop is located on the left of the monitor, drag the two boxes so that Monitor 1 is on the left and Monitor 2 is on the right.
Select the additional monitor from the drop-down menu, check the box beside "Extend the desktop onto this monitor" then click "Apply."

In Windows XP*:

Right-click on your desktop, then select "Properties." In the Display Properties dialog box, click the "Settings" tab.
Arrange the virtual monitor displays if necessary. Select the additional monitor, check "Extend my Windows desktop," then click "OK".

Bagi teman-teman yang hobi untuk instal ulang, atau mempunyai notebook tanpa DVD Room dan ingin menginstal ulang sendiri notebooknya, tidak perlu khawatir karena disini saya akan share beberapa software sekaligus yang dapat membantu teman-teman untuk membuat bootable USB Drive untuk menginstal windows dan linux. Apa saja sing software yang terdapat dalam Collection Freeware to Create Bootable USB Drive to Install Windows and Linux ini? baiklah dibawah akan saya jelaskan satu persatu software untuk membuat Bootable USB Drive ini:

Collection Freeware to Create Bootable USB Drive to Install Windows and Linux:

1. A Bootable USB

A Bootable USB is an easy to use application designed to create a bootable USB drive to install Windows Vista, Server 2008 or 7. This will help you install the operating system on a computer that does not have a DVD drive.

Requirements:
· A USB Drive (4 GB or more)
· Windows Vista, Server 2008 or 7 ISO image or DVD

2. Isotousb

ISO to USB is a free and small software that can burn the ISO image file directly to the USB drives, these USB drives include USB flash drives, memory sticks and other USB storage devices, it also supports to create a bootable USB disk with Windows operating systems. Freeware.

Burn ISO to USB Disk with Ease

The ISO image file is a popular image of the CD/DVD discs, an ISO file can include all the content on the disc, this software can easily burn these ISO files to a USB flash disk, makes it easy to carry and use. The programs interface is very simple, you only need select the ISO file you want to burn and the target USB drive, then click "Burn" button, an USB disk that includes all ISO image data will be created. There do not have any complicated settings, it is easy to use very much.

Bootable USB FlashDisk

This software currently only support Windows bootable disk, can work with both BOOTMGR and NTLDR boot mode, can create USB disk with FAT, FAT32, exFAT or NTFS file system. (When you are making a bootable USB disk, suggest you choose the FAT32 file system.)

This program have be tested with WinXP, Win7 PE and WinXP PE bootable ISO image files, it can work fine, the generated USB disk can normally boot the computers. Only a small part of the machines can boot Win7, but can not boot WinXP, these machines will display "NTLDR is missing", for this problem there is no good solution currently.

3. Unetbootin Windows 575

UNetbootin loads utilities or installs Linux/BSD to a partition or USB drive without a CD. It can use an existing disk image/kernel/initrd file, or download a supported distro or system utility (such as Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE, FreeBSD, PartedMagic)

4. WBICreator

A solution for creating bootable images of Windows 7, Vista or even XP can be found in the form of the recenty released ASKVG tool, known as WBICreator or (Windows Bootable Image Creator). This portable utility creates a bootable ISO disc image from the Windows setup folder from your local, external drive (USB drive) or CD/DVD drive. The created ISO image can then be burned (to create a bootable disc) using any disc burning utility such as 7Burn, BurnAware, etc.

5. Windows7 USB DVD Tool

When you choose to download most software from the Microsoft Store, you have the option of using Download Manager or downloading from your browser. However, when you purchase Microsoft Windows 7 from Microsoft Store, you have an additional choice to make: whether to download a collection of compressed files or to download an ISO file. An ISO file combines all the Windows 7 installation files into a single uncompressed file.
If you choose to download an ISO file (so that you can create a bootable file from a DVD or USB flash drive), copy your Windows 7 ISO file onto your media and, run the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool. After you do this, you can install Windows 7 onto your computer directly from the USB flash drive or DVD.
NOTE: When you download the ISO file, you must copy the file onto a USB flash drive or a DVD to install Windows 7. When youre ready to install Windows 7, insert the USB flash drive into your USB port or insert your DVD into your DVD drive, and then run Setup.exe from the root folder on the drive.

6. WinToFlash 0.7.0048 Beta

WinToFlash is a handy application that will help you transfer your Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 2008, Windows 7 setup from CD or DVD to flash in a few steps. You can install your Windows from flash card, USB stick, HDD, etc to your computer or netbook.
And this is not all it can do. WinToFlash can transfer your live CD/DVD to flash card, for example, BartPE. After all you can erase your Flash card and format it with you Windows for every day use.

Whats New in This Release:

· Updated all language DLLs with new code
· WinToFlash Suggestor updated to latest version

7. Xbootvs1.0beta14

XBoot is a easy-to-use utility for creating Multiboot USB/ISO.You may have seen many bootable ISO files like Linux live CDs , Antivirus rescue CDs etc. XBoot can combine these ISO files in to one Multiboot ISO file or create Multiboot USB in just few clicks.
Simply Drag and drop ISO files in to XBoot and click Create ISO or Create USB button.
Support for some ISO files have been added , support for some other ISO files will be added later on the request of users.

8. YUMI v.0.0.6.1

YUMI (Your Universal Multiboot Installer), is the successor to MultibootISOs. It can be used to create a Multiboot USB Flash Drive containing multiple operating systems, antivirus utilities, disc cloning, diagnostic tools, and more. Contrary to MultiBootISOs which used grub to boot ISO files directly from USB, YUMI uses syslinux to boot extracted distributions stored on the USB device, and reverts to using grub to Boot Multiple ISO files from USB, if necessary.

Aside from a few distributions, all files are stored within the Multiboot folder, making for a nicely organized Multiboot Drive that can still be used for other storage purposes.

ComboFix An alternative to HDD Reformat

Combofix is a malware removing tool specifically designed for the purpose. It is a standalone application and runs without installation.

ComboFix specifically targets SurfSideKick, QooLogic, Look2Me or any combination of that group.

It also nicely picks out Vundo infections and clears some, but not all.

One of the better things it does is pick files recently created which can give clues to other infections. Its very robust too. You can use it to unhook any dll in the system32 folder. You can use it to delete up to as many as 8 files using its command line functions.

Don’t be silly and amateur hackers won’t be able to do anything to you (while serious and skilled hackers will not have any interest to hack you)

The last of the telescopes 4,450 triangular panels was fitted into the dish this weekend, ahead of the telescopes planned launch in September. The Five Hundred Meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (or FAST) is the size of 30 soccer fields, and has taken over five years and $180 million to build. "The telescope is of great significance for humans to explore the universe and extraterrestrial civilisations," said Chinese science fiction writer and Hugo Award-winner Liu Cixin during the final installation. "I hope scientists can make epoch-making discoveries." Hopefully they have read The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and are all ready for contact! The only thing is that our planet rotates around its sun so this wont be reading any static messages.
